2013 Garden State Yarn Crawl and Roma Workshop with Kirsten Kapur

By now, I hope you've heard about the 2013 Garden State Yarn Crawl, to be held April 18-21. It starts in less than a week! Go to the website and map out your route.

Trillium Yarns is happy to be participating in the yarn crawl for the first time as Trillium Yarns and in our new location, no less. Come by from 10-6 on Thursday, 10-9 on Friday, and 11-6 on Saturday and Sunday.

So far we have scheduled for your amusement:

The on-going trunk show of original samples from Kirsten Kapur of Through the Loops Designs, including both original Roma shawls. While you're here, check them out and sign up for her Roma Shawl workshop on April 28th. She will also be here that morning for a trunk show and meet-and greet. Here's Roma:

We also have trunk shows from Spud and Chloe and Manos del Uruguay. From Spud and Chloe, we have the gorgeous Seeing Stars Blanket and the lovely Three Brr Bears along with many other of their most popular patterns. From Manos, we have the beautiful Ocaso Shawl and some really  stunning sweaters, including this one. We also have stocked up on all the Spud and Chloe and Manos Lace and Silk Blend you'll need to make any of these patterns.

On Friday, from 11-1 and from Saturday from 2:30 - 4:30, we'll have Yuki Hokari Sim of Nimara and Japarta visiting with a trunk show of her designs, including her newest design, Artemis Japarta. She will talk about her patterns and her fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship fund.

We will also have Deborah Castellano, of La Sirene and Le Corbeau with a spinning demonstration and some of her own gorgeous handspun yarns for sale.

In addition to all this, you'll get 20% off all in-stock yarns and books and and additional 5% off if you bring in something warm - a hat, or a scarf (handmade or store-bought) - to donate to Emily's Hats for Hope. Of course, there will also be raffles and door prizes, as usual. Come and join us for some fun in our new space!

Yuki will be here with lots of samples of her beautiful designs and her patterns for sale and tell you about her design process and how Nimara and Japarta came to be.

Choose your favorite color of Lima and learn how to make this beautiful and versatile capelet, which works like magic on all body types. It's a great pattern for the advanced beginning knitter looking to add to their repertoire of skills:
- top down construction
- working in the round
- shoulder increases
- and for the adventurous, perhaps a little addition of fair isle along the bottom
And, incidentally this would be a wonderful gift for the breastfeeding mother.

Tuesdays, January 15, 22, 29 from 1-2:30, it's Nimara and Japarta's top down shawl, Japarta Journey. Take the mystery out of top down shawl construction and learn how to make the shawl your own - if you're a little adventurous.

On Thursdays, January 17, 24, 31 from 11-12:30 and 3-4:30, it's the Noelle Capelet by Rowan in their gorgeous Lima. It's a top-down, in-the-round beauty, with shoulder increases. It's a great next-step project.

Fiber Meetup, Trunk Show and Tea with Deborah Castellano of La Sirene et Le Corbeau. She will bring in her own spectacular handspun and hand dyed yarns and roving to ogle, and give drop spindle and wheel demonstrations. Bring your drop spindles, wheels, knitting crocheting - whatever you're up to - and come spend the afternoon hiding out with us.

Friday, November 16 - open at 1pm

Today, we'll open at 1pm, but we're open until 8:30pm, so you'll have plenty of time to pick up your holiday projects and get them started. We have had several big shipments lately: after the storm cleared, we got all the deliveries at once! Among them were:

Swan's Island: more fingering (including limited edition Sugar Maple, a gorgeous fiery orange), more worsted and new for us: bulky, which is even more beautiful in person.

Hiya Hiya (everyone's favorite interchangeables) in bamboo! So pretty and wonderful to work with. And some regular circulars, too. We love them.

We also got some new Malabrigo Twist, Sock and Bulky, along with a couple new colors of the incomparably beautiful Rasta.
